Bubble Bets the Company on AI Visual Development

Platform strategy shifts are usually announced through feature releases. Bubble announced one through its staffing: every employee was asked to recommit to a vision of replacing code with AI visual development, and the overwhelming majority chose to stay.

Why this matters to anyone building on it

It resolves a question clients ask us constantly — whether Bubble is drifting toward being an AI app generator or remaining a visual development environment. The answer is that leadership sees no distinction, and the roadmap follows accordingly. The AI Agent now builds and edits native mobile apps, sets up API connections, and resolves issues in the app directly.

The practical implications

  • Generated output still needs architecture. An agent that can create workflows can also create unbounded searches and privacy-rule gaps at speed. Review has to keep pace with generation.
  • The skill that matters is shifting. Knowing where to click is worth less; knowing what a well-structured data model looks like is worth more.
  • Velocity assumptions change. Estimates built on manual build times are now conservative for the scaffolding and unchanged for the hard parts.

We build production applications on Bubble every week. Our position is unchanged: the platform gets you to a working product faster than almost anything else, and the engineering judgment about data model, privacy rules, and backend workflows is what determines whether it survives contact with scale.
